The National Development and Reform Commission announced to ban selling the general lighting incandescent lamps above 100 watts on a national scale. Yang Lanfang, the deputy secretary general of China Semiconductor Lights Project Research and Development and Industries Federation, said that it created great opportunities for LED luminaries enterprises. As long as the critical point was broken through, the LED luminaries market will be broadened quickly.

The Mckensey data shows that the global LED luminary market share will increase from 7% of its today to above 40% from 2010 to 2016. Up to 2020, the Led luminary market revenue will be about 6.5 billion Euros which will take about 60% of the global luminary market. At present, only the semiconductor luminary products market revenue of China takes about RMB 20 billions, and the number will increase to 50-60 billions Yuan in 2-3 years.

Now, the mainstream of luminary market is fluorescent lamps. Though the fluorescent lamps can save about 75% energy compared with the incandescent lamps, it is still limited to its working life which is normally no more than 10,000 hours. What’s more, the environmental pollution caused by the metallic Mercury contained in the fluorescent lamps is also an impossibly difficult problem. As the researchers explain, as the emerging products, LED energy saving lamps made a lot improvement to the aspects of energy consumption, working life and environmental protection. For example: a LED lamp’s theoretical working life is 100,000 hours, the practical life is no less than 50,000 hours; at the same light effects and intensity, the fluorescent lamps can save more than 50% energy compared with the incandescent lamps. Besides, LED lighting technology develops at a tremendous space. Take the energy consumption as an instance, the expected energy saving efficiency of the fluorescent lamps can be improve to 70% compared with that of incandescent lamps next year.
